Swine flu 2 shy of 300 in India
According to the health ministry, as many as 13 new laboratory-confirmed cases were reported in the country with Delhi reporting three cases, Chandigarh two, Punjab one, Kerala one, Gurgaon three, Hyderabad two and Pune one.
Latest cases from the infected cities
Delhi: The three positive cases reported in the city are those of a 13-year-old girl, a 15-year-old and a seven-year-old boy. All of them have been admitted to identified health facilities and are undergoing treatment.
Chandigarh: The city beautiful reported its two cases of the Influenza with a 29-year-old doctor at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), who recently went to Britain to attend a seminar, and a 50-year-old woman, who returned from Singapore on July 14.
The former is admitted in PGIMER while the woman is in a government hospital.
Punjab: The town of Roopnagar reported its first case of swine flu with an eight-year-old boy who returned from Singapore via Bangkok. He was taken to a private clinic after suffering from cough and sneez. He was later referred to Civil Hospital Ropar.
Kerala: Kasargod also saw its first swine flu case with a six-year-old boy infected with the Influenza-H1N1 virus. He returned from Sharjah and landed at the Karipur airport with flu-like symptoms. He was later admitted to the government hospital in Kozhikode.
Gurgaon: Three girl students, aged 14, 11 and eight years, contracted the swine flu virus through another school student. Doctors said that they came to the city last week with swine flu symptoms.
Pune: A 13-year-old girl who tested positive in the city hospital is the latest swine flu case in the city of Pune. She contracted the virus from another student in her school, who was already infected with the H1N1 virus.
The overall scenario
So far, a total of 1,549 people have been tested in the country, of whom 298 have been tested positive for the Influenza A (H1N1) virus.
Out of these 298 positive cases, 181 people have been discharged from the various health facilities, the health officials informed.
