16 more swine flu cases, Indian tally 525 strong
According to a health ministry statement, the positive cases reported from different parts of the country are: Pune – 10, Hyderabad - 2, Delhi - 1, Gurgaon - 1, Chandigarh - 1, and Imphal - 1.
Latest cases from the infected cities
The swine flu continued to create panic in Pune, as the total number of affected people in the city are now touching 80. Most of the affected are school children.
Of the 10 fresh cases in the city, nine are children and one is a 21-year-old man. While the children contracted the flu from previous patients, the adult returned from London by British Airways Flight and further traveled to Pune by a car.
Of the two new cases reported in Hyderabad, one is a 24-year-old man who traveled from Dubai by Air India Express Flight IX 632 and reached Hyderabad. The second case is of a 16-year-old boy who contracted the flu from a previously reported positive case.
The lone case reported in Delhi is of a boy who also got the virus from a previously reported positive case. The case from Gurgaon is a six-year-old boy. He is another indigenous case.
The case from Chandigarh is of a 17-year-old youth who got the virus from a previous patient.
The one reported from Imphal is a 19-year-old girl who traveled from Singapore to New Delhi and went further to Imphal.
The flu over view
“So far 2,361 persons have been tested, out of which 525 are positive for Influenza A (H1N1). A total of 529 out of the 2,361 persons have been identified through entry screening, 489 through contact tracing and the rest were self reported,” the health ministry said.
Of the 525 positive cases, 369 have been discharged and the rest are under treatment at various identified health facilities.
