152 more test positive for H1N1, national tally 1,707

New Delhi, August 17: The lethal swine flu virus refuses to relent. With fresh 152 people testing positive for the H1N1 influenza in the country in the last 24 hours, the tally of positive cases have risen to 1,707.

28 deaths have been reported in the country so far, with Pune reporting 18, Bangalore 5, Mumbai 2, and Ahmedabad, Chennai, Nashik, Thiruvananthapuram and Vadodara one each.

The financial capital Mumbai reported a total of 60 new confirmed cases, followed by Pune with 18 new cases, Delhi and Chennai 11 each, Coimbatore and Bangalore 10 each, Aurangabad 9, Mangalore and Ernakulam 3 each, Davangere, Akola and Jalna 2 each, and one each in Ahmadnagar, Solapur, Latur, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Dhule, Belgaum, Hubli, Hrudalaya (Karnataka), Dibrugarh and Shimla.

Of the eleven fresh cases of swine flu reported in the Capital Sunday, ten were indigenous ones with no overseas travel history. The other one is of a 14-year-old boy who returned from Britain recently. All these 11 cases have been home quarantined and no hospital admissions have been made.

Delhi’s nodal officer for swine flu, Dr. Anjan Prakash, informed that of these 11 new cases in the Capital, three were school-going children, aged between nine and 13 years.
