Backstreet Boys down with swine flu
A spokesman of the band has confirmed that while Litrell, 34, is recovering.
Though other members of the pop band -- Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean -- together with the touring crew aren’t showing any symptoms, they were still prescribed Tamiflu by the doctors as a preventative measure.
B. Boys forced to cancel all performances
The crooners had just returned to the U.S. from Tokyo to promote the release of their most recent album ‘This Is Us’, and were to appear at several performances in the New York City.
But in the wake of Littrell’s illness, the group has been forced to cancel all the performances, which will be rescheduled for a later date.
They were to host a NYC Hard Rock Cafe signing as a part of breast cancer charity for the NYC’s PINKTOBER event scheduled on Oct. 5. A performance of their new single composition ‘Straight Through My Heart’ from their new album was also planned on CBS' morning news talk program ‘The Early Show’ on Oct. 6.
The pop band’s another intimate fan-appreciation performance at PC Richard & Son Theater in New York scheduled for Tuesday night has also been postponed.
Rest of the band's promotional schedule for this week has yet not been determined.
The pop band’s new album, 'This Is Us' arrives in stores today.
Littrell’s apology towards cancellations
The unhealthy crooner has issued a heartfelt apology to fans via Backstreet Boys official YouTube channel.
"We were really looking forward to spending time with our coolest fans and friends in NYC and take part of Pinktober, an unbelievable and important programme,” Brian said in a statement on Monday. "I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help."
Littrell is not the first pop singer to fall victim to H1N1. Among those who have reportedly been infected with the influenza are Kasabian singer Tom Meighan, Tulisa Contostavlos of the British band N-Dubz and Swedish singer/songwriter Jens Lekman.
