The report of his illness was confirmed Friday morning by Atul Patel, the doctor at a government civil hospital in Ahmedabad.
Untill Thursday, the Gujarat government tried to hide Modi’s sickness and his blood sample was labelled with a different name, Ramesh. His illness was announced after his final test report, carried out late on Thursday, was confirmed positive.
Modi in isolation
Since his return on Wednesday, the minister had been suffering from flu-like symptoms including cough and cold, as informed by the officials sources.
Despite feeling tired and coughing throughout Thursday, Modi continued to attend his official engagements with the cabinet ministers.
By evening, he had developed high fever, therefore, his doctors took his blood samples to check whether he had the H1N1 strain.
After scrutiny, his reports were found to be positive. Since then, the minister has been put under swine flu medication and will be confined to his official residence in Gandhinagar for seven days.
All his official appointments have been cancelled, however, the minister will be available over the phone in case of any emergent situation, informed a spokesperson of the Gujarat government.
Panic wave among ministers
The confirmation of Modi’s test on Friday necessitated a swine flu alert among all the industrialists who accompanied the minister on his visit to Russia along with all the cabinet ministers who attended a three-hour long cabinet meeting with Modi on Thusrday.
One of the cabinet ministers said, "He should not have taken the meeting if he was being suspected of having swine flu. He could have waited for the results of the test."
So far, none of the officials have shown swine flu symptoms, according to a government release.

KARMA: Whatever you sow by your actions come back to you. If you make others happy through service, charity and kind acts, you sow happiness like a seed; and it will give you the fruit of happiness. If you make others unhappy through harsh words, insult, ill-treatment, cruel acts, oppression, etc., you sow unhappiness like a seed; and it will give you the fruit of pain, suffering, misery and unhappiness. This is the immutable Law of Karma.
