Sexy pout can conceal your age!

New York, January 11 -- Your lips can make you look younger! An intriguing new research finds that women who have fuller and seductive lips generally look younger than their real age.

To come up with this conclusion, scientists examined the faces of 102 pairs of Dutch female twins in the age group of 59-81 as well as 162 British white women aged 45-75.

Genetic link-up
Findings of the study also suggest even when ageing sets in with wrinkles, eye bags, drooping jowls and greying hair, a bee stung pout can disguise their real age.

However, the key triggering for the wrinkly lips remains genetic rather than environmental.

Analysis of the faces revealed that age-related changes such as wrinkles, sun damage and age spots were influenced by not only genetic factors but also environmental factors such as exposure to sun, sleeping hours etc.

On the other hand, changes like greying hair, receding hairline and “lip height” as they say were governed by changes in the genetic factors alone.

Overall, the scientists noted a seven fold variation in the lip thickness among women above 60.

They also found that the pink part of the thinnest lips measured just 3mm from the top of the upper lip to the bottom of the lower lip among the study subjects.

Furthermore, the fullest lips in women above 60 just measured 2.2 cm indicating that the genes play a key role as ageing sets in.

“When we identified people who looked young for their age, we were struck by the difference in their lips,” said David Gunn, a research scientists at Unilever.

“It is a feature that is strongly genetically determined and relatively easy to measure,” he added.

Findings useful
According to experts, lips of both men and women achieve maximum fullness and firmness during early life or adolescence. However, the thickness of the lips tends to shrink between the ages of 30 to 40.

The researchers are hopeful that the findings could arouse the women to look for alternatives for enhancing their pouts.

Although, some women may go for artificial procedures like botox and silicon implants to increase the size of their lips, scientists are still contemplating whether or not such alterations can reap dividends.
