Baby on Board? Here's How to Travel Light
Traveling with a baby can be quite a night mare if you are not prepared for it. From food to clothes to medicines and toiletries, make sure you have every little thing your child can possibly need when you travel.
Handy Tips For Traveling with Baby
1. Always prepare an index of must haves before travel and pack following it.
2. Keep a separate index handy to know where you packed what in case you are traveling alone.
3. Never underestimate your need for diapers and medicines. Keep sufficient handy.
4. Wear comfortable clothes yourself, an old tee with denims and shoes is a great choice and keep a extra change.
Always prepare a list of must-haves before traveling and then backpack for the baby. And while you pack almost double of what your child may need, always travel light yourself, in case you don’t have another help.
Must haves
1. Change of clothes, a pair or two. In case of long journey, always carry more shorts or pyjamas for the baby.
2. Diapers, never underestimate the journey and your baby. Any form of delay or problems during the travel may land you in serious trouble if you compromise on diapers. Carry double.
3. Do not forget the wet wipes, baby talc, antiseptic rash lotion, tissue paper rolls, and a plastic mat for diaper change. If possible, keep diaper disposal bags too.
4. Always play safe with food. Carrying dry baby food that can be prepared with hot water is a saving grace. If your child likes jarred fruit stews, carry them too. Also formula milk if you baby prefers that, and at least 3-4 sterilized feeding bottles for long travel.
5. Keep water separately for the baby, so you don’t run around for clean baby safe water.
6. Pack in those colourful bowls and spoons for the baby so that they feel at home eating where ever.
7. Blankets for the baby so that he doesn’t feel uncomfortable.
8. Do not forget to carry a pair of change for yourself too; you never know if you could just need them.
9. Always carry a separate bag of medicines for your baby. Keep paracetamol, an analgesic, a medicine for colic, ear drops, nasal drops, and cough and cold medicines.
10. For long travels, portable sterilizing equipment and mini fridge can also be carried. These can easily be plugged into any regular supply and used.
Keep you paediatrician’s number handy. Check hot water, food, enough clothes, diapers, and medicines and you are ready for your travel. Happy Journey!
