Dr Reddy's Laboratories releases two over-the-counter drugs

A statement was released by Dr Reddy's Laboratories today which confirmed the release of Fexofenadine HCl and Pseudoephedrine HCl in the strengths of 180 and 240 mg in the US markets. These over the counter drugs are used to seasonal allergies such as itchy nose and sneezing.

These drugs can actually be bought from the market without any kind of prescription and are used for the treatment of symptoms of common illnesses that may not require the direct supervision of a physician.

The drug helps recover from allergy like symptoms
Allegra provides quick, non-drowsy, relief for atleast 24-hours from indoor and outdoor allergy symptoms including itchiness, sneezing, watering eyes and a runny or congested nose called as seasonal allergic rhinitis–commonly known as hay fever.

On June 22, 2011, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) had reportedly given approval to this Hyderabad-based firm's abbreviated new drug application (ANDA).

The Company said "Dr Reddy's will market the product under store brand labels in the US market”. They also said that these tablets were a bio equivalent version of Sanofi Aventis' Allegra D24 Hour extended release tablets.

Marking an increase by 1.89% from previous close, the shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories today closed at Rs 1,493.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
