250 dengue cases in Chandigarh, Haryana

Chandigarh -- Over 250 confirmed cases of dengue fever have been reported in Chandigarh and Haryana, health officials said Thursday.

In the union territory of Chandigarh alone, out of the 257 suspected cases of dengue, 143 had been confirmed for the disease.

While most of the confirmed dengue cases here were from the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, 42 of these cases are from Chandigarh city itself.

Health officials said that fogging and fumigation operations were on in mosquito prone areas.

In Haryana, a health department spokesman said that out of 107 confirmed dengue cases, 34 were from Gurgaon district followed by 23 from Panchkula and 19 from Faridabad.

He said that dengue cases had been reported from at least 14 out of the state's 20 districts.
