Broccoli Juice Saves Life Of An Elderly With Bladder Cancer

Broccoli Juice Saves Life Of An Elderly With Bladder Cancer

Drinking half a tumbler of broccoli juice a day keeps bladderdefine cancerdefine away! Exactly, this is what 79 year old, Ray has been doing for last five years after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2003.

Ray gives all the credit to broccoli juice which has saved his life. 5 and a half years ago, Ray was diagnosed with bladderdefine cancerdefine and doctors did not expect him to survive. Since than he gulps down half a tumbler of broccoli juice daily and survived the condition. Even the scans done at the hospital confirms that the cancer has been kept at bay.

Ray, of Braunstone, Leics, said, “If I’d had my bladder removed five years ago — as was suggested — I’d have been vulnerable to many infections and wouldn’t be here. But the broccoli has stopped any spread of the cancer.”

Adding further he said, “Since I’ve taken it the pain in my bladder has gone. It has definitely relieved things and helped me out.”

Joan, 72, wife of Ray, started including broccoli in the diet of her husband after one of her friend told her about the cancer fighting properties of the veggie and claimed that it wouldn’t do any harm.

She said, “The consultant surgeon said how amazingly well Ray has done.”

She added: “It’s a bit of a mess getting the juice from the broccoli. If it wasn’t so good for Ray we wouldn’t put ourselves through the ordeal of making the drink!”

The researchers from the Cancer Research UK have decided to talk to former clothing worker Ray about the miracle recipe so that they could study more about the cancer fighting properties.

Approximately 10,000 men in Britain die from prostate cancerdefine every year. It is the fifth most common form of the cancer and affects more male than women.

Various studies showed that eating broccoli could reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer by as much as 40%. But a latest study by British researchers explained how broccoli actually fights bladder cancer. The study found that eating broccoli 1 or 2 times a week can reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer by changing how specific genesdefine behave and could also help prevent the disease becoming more aggressive.

Coming from a plant of the Cabbage family, Brassicaceae (formerly Cruciferae), Broccoli has been around for more than 2000 years. The word, “broccoli" was derived from the Latin word brachium, which means "branch” or "arm."

Both tomatoes and broccoli are very much known for their cancer fighting qualities and if both are included in the daily diet than they are better at shrinking prostate tumors than, when they're eaten alone. On the other hand, Broccoli when eaten alone protects against bladder cancer.

Broccoli, along with spinach, help to minimize risk for cataracts. A previous study found that eating broccoli sprouts may cut the risk of stroke, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, according to the 2004 edition of Time.

One must go for 2 fruits and 5 vegetables daily. Eat less of fatty processed red meats, highly processed foods that are low in fibre and heavily salted and pickled foods.

Eat more of vegetables, especially raw vegetables or salads, tomatoes, carrots, citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, bok choy).

ABC of Weaning

Weaning is the process of gradually introducing the infant to solid diet and reducing the supply of mother’s milk. A fully weaned infant derives all its nutrition from solid foods and is off breast milk completely.
