11 Infants die at AP hospital, probe ordered

Post the shocking death of 11 babies at a hospital in Andhra Pradesh in just 2 days, government ordered probe into allegedly a case of defective ventilators the infants were on.

Reports came in on Wednesday after 4 newborn deaths took place at Kurnool General Hospital, around 300kms away from capital city Hyderabad. On Thursday, 7 more deaths were filed.

Medfort Maxivision Group to open 15 more hospitals by 2012

Maxivision, a well-known eye care chain headquartered in Hyderabad is reportedly undergoing a merger with Medfort Hospitals, a leading healthcare delivery organization focused on eye care and diabetes. G. S. K. Velu, Chairman, Medfort Hospitals articulated that in a all- cash deal, Medfort had acquired Maxivision. This new combination will be named Medfort Maxivision Group.

Fortis to reach 'Tier 3 and 4 towns'

In an attempt to reach out to 300 million more people , the Fortis Healthcare network has decided to go cheaper and deeper setting up more facilities in the far tier 3 and 4 towns adding to its already existent 66 hospitals network.

Mr Shivinder Mohan Singh (M.D.), Fortis Healthcare, offering a bed capacity of 10,270, says, “We want to go cheaper and deeper. Within the next two years, 25 of these hospitals will be up.
