Cellulite And Ways To Fight It

Have you ever heard a woman complaining of orange-peel skin, saddlebags, pruned legs, cottage cheese or dimples? Well, all these names are just synonyms of the word ‘cellulite’.

Mostly women are affected by cellulite and this can happen at any age after puberty starts settling in. Though not harmful in all cases, cellulite is off-putting and undesirable nevertheless.

The worst part is that there are no permanent ways of making cellulite disappear from one’s body. Even if it goes away from one part of the body it tends to re-surface on some other.

So what exactly is cellulite? Is it the same as fat or different from it?

A little bit of knowledge about the different layers of the skin can help us understand cellulite better. Basically we have three layers, namely, epidermis, dermis and sub-cutaneous tissue.

Cellulite is a kind of fat tissue in the sub-cutaneous layer of the skin. This layer consists of narrow bands of connective tissue. This tissue has a lining of fat cells, which help in protecting our muscles and organs.

When our body system works effectively, all the waste material and toxins are removed, as a result of which we get smooth curves. But if the waste material gets trapped in the skin, the connective tissue becomes rigid, thereby giving a dimpled effect.

Cellulite is sometimes confused with fat which is not true. Whereas, fat protects our muscles, nerves and organs; cellulite provides no padding whatsoever.

Mostly women are prone to cellulite and they tend to store it in the hips, thighs, stomach, lower back etc. The structure of the sub-cutaneous layer in men is different from that of women which prevents cellulite from accumulating.

There are many factors which contribute towards causing cellulite. These factors could range from insufficient water intake, to lack of exercise, to hormonal imbalance and even pollution. Basically an unhealthy lifestyle is the main reason behind cellulite formation.

Though cellulite does not go away completely, there are some ways to tackle it for sure. The following need to be kept under control:

1.alcohol
2.fried food
3.spices
4.smoking

The best remedy for any kind of health problem is exercise. Exercising improves blood circulation and helps in throwing out waste from our body in an effective manner. This helps in strengthening our muscles and making them more firm.Coupled with a healthy and balanced diet, exercise can help reduce cellulite.

One must also inculcate proper breathing techniques in order to remove toxins from the body. Proper breathing is a must for better oxygenation of blood, which in turn makes the lungs work more efficiently to throw the waste out.

A good massage is also helpful to some extent. Proper life-long care of the body is required because cellulite keeps on re-appearing as mentioned earlier.
