Detox Your Body
Inner Care:
• Adopt a more regular lifestyle.
• Get at least six to seven hours of sleep daily.
• Living up can dehydrate your body. Drink plenty of water. Maintain a regime of drinking eight to ten glasses daily with healthy, timely meals.
• At least one meal should consist of a bowl of salad. Eat two fruits daily, preferably a vitamin A and a vitamin C rich food e.g., papaya and something citrus.
• Munch on a fistful of nuts or dry fruits, preferably walnuts and almonds, which are high in vitamin E and low in calories. And figs for constipation caused by irregular food habits.
Face Care:
• Use the right make-up and never go to sleep with it, to avoid eruptions.
• Stick to a regular moisturizing and cleansing routine, however tired and late you go to bed.
• Use a quality cleanser, non-alcoholic toner, sunscreen with in-built moisturizer and moisturize before you sleep.
• Select a water-based moisturizer for oily skin and an oil-based one for dry skin.
• Moisturize the thin-skinned area around the eyes. Dark circles or puffy eyes often follow a fast life. Take a drop of moisturizer on the ring finger and gently massage both eyelids with circular strokes. It will soothe, improve circulation and aid lymphatic drainage of puffy eyes.
• Place cotton pads dipped in rose water, tea water or cucumber juice on the eyes to reduce strain and dark circles.
Hair care:
• Water intake is crucial for healthy hair.
• Dyes, styling treatments, blow drying, etc, can make the hair dry and brittle. Use oil as a pre-conditioner at least once a week. Keep it on for about an hour before a head bath and wash with a mild, branded shampoo. Beware: overnight oiling can cause acne break-out.
• If you use dye, invest in a mild shampoo meant for coloured or damaged hair.
• If you use any styling product, apply a shampoo and conditioner from the same brand for better hair health. They’re formulated to handle the possible side effects.
• Never use hot water on the hair or scalp. A lukewarm rinse is safe.
• Dyes are chemical agents and some damage is inevitable despite quality control. Big brands are safer, but even more important is expert application and after care.
• Don’t blow dry. If you must, use the dryer in cold mode instead of hot.
• Serums, silicone fluids, leave-in conditioners help very dry, frizzy hair.
Feet Care:
• Wear the right footwear.
• Pointed-toed footwear is dicey. It could lead to ingrown toe nails in time.
• For blisters, try rest and daily moisturizers.
• Groom your nails. Cut cleanly, leave no sharp edges that might hurt the toes and moisturize regularly.
