All these organs clean up the body through their different individual functions.

The liver acts as a filter to remove foreign substance from the blood. The kidneys filter wastes from the urine while the lungs filter dangerous gases that we breathe. A practitioner would customize the detoxification according t o the condition of the patient.

Herbal Detoxification is comparatively less expensive and has less chance of any side effects. Also many of the herbal solutions are easy to use and involve simple life style changes. Herbs can be effective detoxifying agents when accompanied with a healthy and nutritious diet.

Methods for Herbal Detoxification

Skin Cleansing: The chemicals present in different lotions that we use on our skin, are a big source of toxins in the body. A daily bath with natural soaps, avoiding synthetic clothes, rough use of towels and a good nutrition areall that you need for skin cleansing.

Detoxifying Baths: A healing bath once a month not only rejuvenates you after days’ stress, but also makes your body toxin free . Soak half a cup of baking soda or half a cup of sea salt to bathing water for around 15-20minutes.Once the water turns murky, rub it gently on the skin.
Juices: Vegetable juices are an excellent source of developing good health and cleansing the body. However, the juices should be taken without the pulp. Some experts claim it can also help in curing cancerdefine.

Antioxidantsdefine: Vitamins A, C and E are involved extensively in the detoxification process. Antioxidants can help in stopping cellular damage.

Herbal Tea: Herbal teas help in promoting cell regeneration and elimination of toxins.

Bowel Cleansing: Constipation has become a major epidemic in most of our lives today. This is again due to the intake of raw or chemically laden products. Detoxifying helps in clearing up the bowel of any long-standing encrustations.

Food and Drink: A glass of emon water or a glass of water with one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar is great to start the day. Drinking herbal teas in between meals also help in supporting the liver.

Side Effects:

In “The Best Way to Detox," Jill Ruttenberg says that if the body starts detoxifying very fast, the patient may have symptoms like nausea , headaches, vomiting and malaise. This is known as the Herxheimer Reaction. Though not very severe, this will have the adverse effect on the body.

Drinking lots of water, regular exercise and lots of sunshine can help in controlling this reaction. It is always advisable to consult a therapist or practitioner before starting any regime. Sometimes even the simplest of solutions need a little bit of demystifying which only an expert can do.
