Disaster recovery center of Baytown and Missouri city closing

Austin, Texas January 15: The FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center in Missouri City and Baytown will close Jan. 17, but residents can continue to register with FEMA through the newly extended registration deadline of Feb. 6.
"Though this center is closing, FEMA is still here and serving Texans. People affected by Hurricane Ike can register with FEMA until Feb. 6 or follow up on their applications by telephone, online or by visiting another disaster recovery center," said Federal Coordinating Officer Stephen M. De Blasio Sr.
The Baytown center is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Saturday and located at San Jacinto Mall at 6109 Garth Road while The Missouri City center is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and located in the Wells Fargo Bank Building at 2440 Texas Parkway.
The residents can register for aid or follow up on their applications by going online to www.fema.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Both numbers are available 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
"We urge area residents to make use of the Baytown recovery center before it closes, though other centers in Harris County area will remain open they can also access," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "We urge those who haven't registered with FEMA to do so as soon as possible and to stay aware of their applications' progress."
