A study conducted by Harvard researchers on around 100,000 egg eating men and women found that eating eggs does not contribute to heart disease by itself. Neither does consuming eggs increase the risk of stroke in healthy individuals. So is egg actually good for us...? Themedguru finds out.

Many researches have been conducted on whether or not eggs are good for health. The results have been somewhat confusing. A recent study found that key ingredients in eggs can help reduce the risk of “neural tube birth defects” and also promote eye health.

How are Eggs Good for Us?
Eggs have always been known as an excellent source of a host of good things nature intended us to have. Boiled, fried or scrambled, eggs are a world of goodness.

- Eggs are very good for the eyes. Lutein and zeaxanthin are two components of eggs which help in reducing the degeneration of the tissues of the eyes. Regular consumption of eggs can certainly help in keeping the eyes healthy.

Egg consumption should always be in moderation. Too much of eggs can certainly increase the cholesterol. Especially elderly people should avoid excess intake of eggs, as also the people who already have heart ailments, have suffered a stroke or are suffering from weight related issues.
