Love bites are caused when during an intense love making session your partner indulges in excessive kissing, sucking or biting at any body part. During the process, the blood vessels present under the skin tend to break open due to excessive application of force.
The more evident love bites, can become a reason for embarrassment if not dealt with before venturing out. And since this troublemaker is always present in the most visible places, you might end up dressed as a snow man in the most severe of summers just to hide the mark. It need not be so from now on, because here are a few tips that can help you keep this miscreant at bay.
Ice Ice Baby
If you are a common victim of love bites, ensure that you have some ice in the ice box before the love making session begins. As a means of controlling damage, right after your love making, get a few ice cubes and gently apply them on the affected area, wrapped up in a thin towel or cloth. Move it in round circular motions for a good twenty minutes.
Doing so will first help in reducing the swelling resulting from the love bite and then subsequently it would restrict the blood clot from spreading any further. However, you must remember that this procedure can only aid in keeping the swelling under control and will show the desired results only if ice is applied immediately after you get the love bite.
Also be cautious of the fact that you do not apply ice directly on the mark. Doing so can cause frostbite and sometimes do just the opposite of what you had set to achieve, it might deepen the color of the love bite.
Using a Spoon
Just prior to your romantic encounter, keep a spoon in the freezer. The spoon is not for an after sex ice cream but to assist you get rid of the love bite mark. A chilled spoon is capable of doing the same thing that an ice pack does.
After the love making, remove the spoon from the freezer and massage the affected area in circular motions with it. Go over this procedure once again after a couple of hours. The massage is aimed at breaking the blood clots under your skin and helping normalize the blood flow in that area.
Brushing up the Love Bite
Bet you’d never imagine this to be true! But brushing the love bite once the swelling subsides, does work wonders. After the love bite swelling subsides, the next step would be to get rid of the mark. For this, you would require a soft bristled toothbrush or a soft comb to brush the mark in an up and down motion to see the red spot slowly disappear into thin air.
Brushing facilitates the circulation of blood, thus helping the bruise to heal faster. Only make sure that you don’t apply too much pressure with the brush or do the brushing for too long. This could also aggravate the problem.
Adding a tinge of Heat
Heat is good too. Some heat from a warm cup of water could in fact, also work wonders in the process of erasing the marks of your love bites. For this, take a cup of warm water and dipping a piece of cloth into it, gently press it over the affected area. Continue doing so for several minutes, thrice a day.
It is in fact a common belief that tea bags are better than a piece of cloth. While using tea bags, moisten the tea bags with warm water and then apply them on the love bites. You must do this only when the bite has healed completely, that is, after about 20 to 24 hours of getting the love bite.
This formula helps in dilating the blood vessels facilitating a gush of blood into the affected area, thus reducing the red marks.

The tips mentioned above are only ways to fasten the process of healing. They are not some kind of a magic mantra that guarantees results, so for all you know you might still be left with a red mole even after trying all the tips.
So, as a last resort, there is no harm in keeping a polo neck T-shirt or a couple of silk scarves in your wardrobe, which will definitely come handy in the worst of all situations.
