Here’s how to make a breeze of beating your addiction to coffee…
A cup of coffee - Your life long companion. It’s there when you ask someone out on a date; when you work late nights staying awake; it soothes you when times are not really in favor and adds joy to your moments with its magical flavor.
But when it becomes a habit or an addiction, it’s a sheer waste that you can do without. Themedguru suggests 5 simple steps to coffee de-addiction:
1. Cut Down on the Number of Coffee Breaks
You cannot kick any addiction abruptly. So, go gradually in your mission to make yourself caffeine-resistant. In office or at home, keep a check on the number of your coffee intakes daily, and then set a target to reduce that to only one or maximum two cups a day over a month’s time.
2. Drink Lots of Water
Drinking lots of water will curb your appetite and help you stay away from coffee in the meanwhile. Eight glasses a day is what doctors recommend. Plus, water has its own share of benefits too.
3. Substitute Tea for Coffee
When reduced to a reasonable number of coffee intakes, try to make it an occasional affair by substituting it by regular tea, which has lesser caffeine than coffee. This way you’ll still get some caffeine to stay active, but in a harmless quantity.
4. From Regular Tea to Herbal Tea
Regular tea too is not caffeine-free, so if you want to kick caffeine completely out of your life, gradually shift to herbal tea. Try on a variety of flavors to find out the one that tastes best to you.
5. What if it’s Still not Your Cup of Tea?
If you still can’t resist coffee, go for grain coffee, made of nuts and dry fruits. It’s healthy, naturally caffeine-free. If you search hard, you may find some with similar aroma as of coffee. You might take some time to pick up the taste though.
So enjoy your cup of coffee on occasions, just don’t abuse it.
