Inhalers much better treatment for Asthmatic childrens
The scientists for the first time have looked into the various methods of treating asthma with either medication or inhalers and came out with the conclusion that inhalers are not only safe but are more effective for treating children with the asthma problem.
According to the health portal news Medical, though there are many medications available in the market which can be used to treat children with asthmatic problem but still any clinical trial which compares their effectiveness has been not carried out.
The researchers of the Childhood Asthma Research and Education Network of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) conducted the study on 284 school going children in the age group of 6 to 14 years. Three different medicines were taken into account to study the effectiveness and safety on children with mild to moderate persistent asthma.
After completion of 48 days it was found that inhaled corticosteroidsm, an asthma inhaler were more effective initial daily therapy for children with mild to moderate persistent asthma problem.
These results support the current asthma clinical guidelines, which recommend inhaled corticosteroids as the preferred initial therapy for children with mild to moderate asthma.
The findings are reported in this months' issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI).
According to another leading research and advisory firm, Decision Resources, the use of Corticosteroidsm inhalers will increase for the treatment of asthma problems.
