Latest in Wrinkle Fight : "Snake Poison" Face Cream

The latest addition in the fight against the wrinkles is an anti-wrinkle face cream made with synthetic snake venom. The treatment is an alternative for all those who want to get rid of the wrinkles but don't want to suffer cosmetic surgery or Botox.

Selfridges’ Kent-based cosmetics range - Planet Skincare’s moisturizer is doing the trick which is said to 'stun' the skin, the way a real snake bite would, helping to keep it smooth. The 60 pounds (US $100) face cream which went on sale last week in Selfridges is selling like hot cakes.

The synthetic venom, called Synakeproduct provides “Botox like results” without an injection, reducing the muscle cell contractions that cause wrinkles and resulting in smooth soft younger skin.

The Director of the Harley Street Medical Skin Clinic, Dr Aamer Khan said, "This could work for somebody who doesn't want injections.” Adding further he said, "The effects are not going to be as dramatic as with Botox. It will also need to be reapplied as the body gets rid of it quickly."

Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Kingsley are said to be huge fans of the snake poison products and use the cream to de-wrinkle from time to time.

The main ingredient used in the preparation of the anti-wrinkle cream is a synthetic version of the poison of Temple viper, a distant cousin to the rattle snake found in Southeast Asia. Just like Botox, this synthetic venom contains the ‘amino acid’ that blocks nerve signals controlling the muscle contraction and helps to stop wrinkles from forming.

The clinical tests conducted by the manufacturing company showed that the smoothing effect was measured in 80% of the subjects while an anti-wrinkle effect was seen in 73% of the volunteers over a period of 28 days.

The other ingredients used in the moisturizer are passion flower oil, rose flower water, mango, calendula oil, jojoba, vitamin E acetate. Synake - the key ingredient used won the 'Swiss Technology Awards 2006'.

Selfridges' Christine Benson said, "Products containing snake venom have been used for a few months now in the US, actresses especially love the effect. Unlike Botox, it allows the face movement and emotion but lessens wrinkles and paralyses muscles which cause creases."

The venom cream should be applied morning and night to get the desirable results. The 30 ml pot is designed to last about a month but if you use it more often then it would be gone that much quickly. Well, after hearing so much about the product, a few among us at themedguru.com can’t wait to lay our hands on it. Can you?
