Manual Versus Electric Toothbrush

There are two types of toothbrushes available in the market - Electric and Manual. Generally people have this notion that electric brushes are much more effective then manual and clean mouth well, but its not so.

Studies have shown that manual toothbrushes remove as much plaque as their expensive electric counterparts, and protect just as well against inflamed gums.

Let’s look at the Manual and Electronic brushes features:

Manual toothbrushes are quite cheap, economical, easy to carry while traveling and doesn’t have much fuss about changing battery or getting them charged.

While on the other hand electric toothbrushes are easy to hold, they have timer in it which will buzz off after two minutes and there are many toothbrushes which comes along with the toothpaste dispenser.

Electric toothbrushes are quite expensive as compared to manual toothbrush and need battery replacements after sometime. Study showed that the best electric toothbrush is one with rotating-oscillating head.

It doesn’t really depend which type of toothbrush you go for but what really matters is how you use them. One should brush their teeth for full two minutes.

Professor Peter Robinson of the University of Sheffield had said in his study on kind of toothbrush, "Toothbrush choice is as much about personal preference as anything else, and people tend to take affordability, availability and professional recommendation into account. However, it is important that consumers know how well their toothbrush will work before making a choice."
