Men's Health Checkups and Screening CheckLists

Men have been too busy looking after their family, working their guts out to provide every comfort to their loved ones, expanding their businesses etc and thus don’t have time for themselves. They will give all the excuses when talk about their health or about regular check ups.

Wrong attitude, after all prevention is better than cure. Take the example of machinery which will develop fault or rust if proper care is not taken time to time, same is the case with the human body, which is composed of cells, tissues, muscles etc and develops one or other illness due to faulty lifestyle or any other reason. There is a well known saying “A stitch in time saves nine.” So be careful regarding your health not only for yourself but for the sake of your loved ones after all you are too important for them.

A widely noted fact is that life expectancy for women is much more than men. They tend to live longer than the male ratio, well no specific reason for this disparity is yet found but may be it could be due to less drinking and smoking by females than they are much more emotionally strong and are more conscious about their diet.

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Exercise regularly – Don’t forget to exercise daily in the morning and if you are too tied up with your morning schedule than take out sometime in the evening and exercise. Walking is best form of exercise for men of all ages. Meditation will also help in lowering down the stress level and recharging you with energy.

Keep a watch on your diet – Avoid having oily and spicy food. Keep a tab on sugar intake. Food high on salt or sugar content must be avoided. Eat more of green vegetables and fruits.

Drink moderately - Studies have found that moderate drinking is good for heart and health. But it should be moderate only and drink at least a glass of water for each drink you have. Don’t drink too much of caffeine or soda.

Quit Smoking - Smoking leads to various health and medical diseases like cancer, heart and lung problems. NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy)will help in quitting smoking. Always keep a gum or some kind of candy with yourself and when you urge for a puff put it in your mouth. Drink lot of water and have low calorie food at starting few months of quitting. Decide a day when you will stop.

Watch your weight - Eat but don't overeat. Look out for the calories you eat per day.

Why should I go to doctor when I am perfectly fine?

Hmmm well some diseases like inflammation, high cholesterol, high or low blood pressure are few to name which can go undetected if you don’t go for regular check-ups and if untreated these will turn into dangerous heart and blood vessel diseases. Another such disease is diabetes which is increasing day by day due to faulty lifestyle of people and could develop cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, blindness, stroke and even to untimely death.

Colon cancer in men can be detected early by medical examination which could save their life if detected in time.
