A heterosexual Chicago man was rejected from giving blood because he looked 'too gay.' Aaron Pace, a straight man who describes himself as effeminate, was apparently turned away from donating blood at a blood bank in Gary, Indiana, for appearing homosexual.
Gay men have been prohibited from giving blood since 1985. Under the policy, implemented by the Food and Drug Administration, men who have sex with other men can not donate blood.
The ban on gay blood donors is based on the assumption that all homosexual and bisexual men are high risk for HIV.
