Plastic Surgery – Its A Man’s World Too

Plastic Surgery – Its A Man’s World Too

“Mirror mirror on the wall, the knife has made men better than all”, this saying could very well suit the present day scenario with large number of men choosing to go under the knife to look better and their numbers increasing by the day, according to the new report released by the American Society of Plastic Surgery.

According to the report, the last five year growth curves have seen a tremendous upward trend, in the number of men opting for plastic surgery as means to enhance their looks. The number of men opting for plastic surgery from 2002 to 2007 has increased by 16% says the report.

The year 2007 saw 1.1 million plastic surgery procedures performed on men alone. However the numbers are suspected to be much higher than those obtained in the survey as many men prefer to keep their ‘appearance correction’ trysts, a secret.

The area which once boasted of female exclusivity, often being labeled as one that fuels female vanity has now started seeing encroachments from men too, their numbers contributing to 10% of the total procedures undertaken in America.

The main areas where men feel the need for corrective surgery are- jaws, nose reshaping (Rhinoplasty), waist tuck ins (liposuction), breast reduction (gynaecomastia) and of course hair transplantation.

Doctors and plastic surgeons are seeing a rise in the number of men above 60 years of age also coming in for surgery. The reason behind this trend is a sense of competition against younger men, as stated by Californian doctor, Mathew Mingrone.

” I want to look as good as I feel," said Lawrence Deritis, who is 60 years old. He has undergone a hair transplant and an eyelid lift, coupled with a few botox injections to erase out the wrinkled look.

This trend of increase in male plastic surgeries is not just confined to America. A general upswing is seen all over the globe, with men becoming more conscious of their image, looks and body. If exercise and workouts do not produce the desired effects men today are not shy to venture into the once female dominated zone of plastic surgery. After all looks can make or mar your personality!

In recent year men started

In recent year men started understanding the improvements a plastic surgery would bring in their lives. Unlike women they don't take this decision fast, and those who decide for plastic surgery have serious long rationalized reasons. We can't deny that there are men that need plastic surgery and this change in their lives is often most welcomed.

Have you heard of a drug that lowers the risk of diabetes, colondefine cancerdefine, gallstones and Parkinson’s disease? That lowers lever damage, controls headaches and most notably lifts your mood? If this sounds too good to be true, think yet again. This substance is too good, yet it’s true too. We’re talking about coffee, folks!

The Cup of Life

It is virtually a dream come true. Forget you have been told about coffee being bad for you. Themedguru now knows and science confirms that coffee is not just good for you, it’s practically a miracle drink.

Ever imagined, what it would be like to lead a disease free life and be a part of a world where every body is hale and hearty? Well, it may sound utopian right now but with researches on stem cells on full swing, a few years down the line, it is a definite possibility.

A New Hope for Life – Stem Cells

On Oct. 16, 2006, Carron Morrow, from Alabama was successfully cured through a pioneering study in which stem cells were used to regenerate her failing heart. Not long after the surgery, Morrow began to feel like the same old energetic person. "I knew within two months something was going on," Morrow said. "I could sing a whole song at church." She soon got back to her job, and subsequent tests confirmed that her heart was functioning normally once again.

Dr. Mikao Usui, in the year 1922, founded a system of natural healing that was not based on any religion but, was meant for a person’s holistic cleansing and healing. This, he named REIKI.

      Reiki for Holistic Healing

The term ‘holistic healing’ refers to the cure of not just the person’s body, but also his emotions, mind and spirit. The Japanese word ‘reiki’ is made up of two words – Rei, meaning ‘God’s wisdom’ or ‘Higher Power’ and Ki, meaning ‘Universal Life Force Energy’.
