Reiki for Holistic Healing

Dr. Mikao Usui, in the year 1922, founded a system of natural healing that was not based on any religion but, was meant for a person’s holistic cleansing and healing. This, he named REIKI.

The term ‘holistic healing’ refers to the cure of not just the person’s body, but also his emotions, mind and spirit. The Japanese word ‘reiki’ is made up of two words – Rei, meaning ‘God’s wisdom’ or ‘Higher Power’ and Ki, meaning ‘Universal Life Force Energy’.

Under this alternative technique of treatment, it is believed that the universal or cosmic energy would gradually flow from the practioner’s hands whenever they are placed on or are held in close proximity to a potential recipient.

The benefits of reiki are available to everyone, irrespective of one’s religious believes, intellect or dogma. It is believed to be a gift of the eternal being, The Almighty, and yet has nothing to do with any particular religion. Reiki however, does prescribe the practice of certain simple ethical ideas such as promoting unity, love and harmony, which are, in fact, the backbone on which rest the very existence of all cultures of the world.

How Reiki Works
It may be unbelievable to a neophyte, but the benefits of reiki can be passed on to even a person located in a distant place, far away from the practioner. This technique encompasses the use of a certain set of symbols to establish temporary connection between the practioner and the recipient.

Once again, it might seem unbelievable, but Mrs. Jadeja, a reiki master from Silvassa, believes that “Through this mode of healing, cosmic energies can also be transmitted to a specific point of time, in the future or in the past.” And as if that was not enough, reiki masters claim that this healing technique is not just limited to animate beings like you and me, but can also be extended to inanimate objects such as a car or any other machine.

Saraswathi was diagnosed with a cyst in the right ovary about eight years ago. She sought reiki treatment from a reiki master there after. Learning Reiki
Leaning this art is called ‘Attunement’. A person is required to qualify three degrees of reiki before he can become a reiki master and train the others in the same. Anybody who has love and respect for life can learn reiki.

First degree attunement: It enables the body to chanalize all the positive energy from the cosmos so that one is able to give away the negative energy, and the ailment is cured. It enables the practioner to treat and heal oneself and the others of a physical disorder.

Second degree attunement: Practitioners are taught about the symbols, which are in fact the sacred tools which further promote the flow of healing energy. Here one learns the techniques of distant healing, energising machines, personality development, goal achievement and even promoting financial gains.

Third degree attunement: Here one is trained to be able to train others for first and the second degree attunement and to spread the message of universal love and respect for life.

The best part about reiki is that it does not require any diagnostic tests. The cosmic energy is believed to know where and how to act and what exactly to do. Further, it can be administered with any other system of medicine such as allopath, homeopathy, and ayurveda.
