UP reports its first swine flu suspect

Lucknow, UP, May 24: The city reported its first H1N1 suspect when a brass exporter from Moradabad was admitted to the Moradabad district hospital.

According to the man, when he came back from his recent visit to Europe, he developed 99 degrees of fever. On taking a paracetamol, he said, fever was gone.

For the sake of precaution, he consulted his family doctor who asked him to take test for the swine flu without any delay.

A team of doctors went to Moradabad from Lucknow to collect his blood and urine samples, which have been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) for analysis.

Result awaited on Moradabad patient
Right now, the result is awaited but all necessary precautions with regard to the patient are being taken, said one of the team members, Dr.Mayank Dwivedi.

The results will be available soon, said Director General (Medical and Health) I. S. Srivastava.

The first swine flu case in the country was reported in Hyderabad on May 13, a 23-year-old man who arrived in Hyderabad from New York City via Dubai.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 4694 cases of swine flu across the globe. The virus, till now, has taken 65 lives in 34 countries.
