The Basics of ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis)
Also known as post-viral fatigue syndrome, ME or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis is one of the most baffling ailments to emerge in recent years. According to doctors who have dealt with it, the most effective treatment is to give the body the time to heal itself, and to help it to do so by adopting a healthier diet and a sensible lifestyle.
ME follows some form of viral infection or, occasionally, a vaccination. The range of symptoms includes muscle fatigue and pain, exhaustion, flu-like symptoms, mood swings, poor concentration, short-term memory loss, depressiondefine, and some digestive complaints.
To help your body cope with these problems, you need to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet that contains enough complex carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. It is best to eat small, regular spaced meals throughout the day to ensure that your body receives a steady flow of nutrients to help it fight the illness.
