Most of the time of an individual is spent in the office and thus they should take care of their office and their health with much care and precautions. Following are the simple steps which will help you in being healthy and having quality life at workplace.
1. Office desk breeding ground for Bacteria – Wash hands Often
A recent study by University of Arizona showed that there are more germs in an office desk especially of women then at home so it’s advisable for people to keep their workplace germ free as it’s the breeding ground for bacteria.
Using disinfecting wipes and frequently washing hands with soap and water will help in keeping you germ free and healthy. It has been seen that an individual who has germs will possibly spread germs to all the places where he or she will lay their hands and sometimes germs can live for two to three days on that surface. Wash hands before and after going to restroom, before and after eating food or snacks, sneezing or whenever you feel your hands are dirty.
2. Drink loads of water
Drink as much of water as you can, at least eight to ten glass of water per day. Our body is made up of 65% of water so it gets dehydrated as the intake of tea, coffee is more so drinking water after every hour will do the trick and in no time you can have those ten glasses of water without any difficulty.
3. Move around or say take short breaks
Don’t keep on working constantly, but try to take short break for ten-fifteen minutes after an hour or two and take this time to stretch your body. If you have got a job profile which demands long sitting hours in front of computer then try to give rest to your eyes by looking away from the computer screen and fixing your gaze on some distant object for a while. Adjust your sitting posture.
4. Get healthy food as snacks with you
Rather then having those salty fatty chips or pastries as snacks keep something healthy and refreshing with you, an apple, home made sandwich or some other seasonal fruit will do. When feeling thirsty don’t go for shakes or sodas but order a fresh lime water or fruit punch to quench your thirst and relax your body.
5. Have good relationship with colleagues
Have friendly relation with co-workers, don’t be part of office politics and just do your work without offending anybody, you don’t have to make friends with everybody but neither has to turn them into enemy. Be professional.
6. Maintain distance with an ill colleague
If a colleague of yours is not well, try to maintain your distance as it could be contagious disease and you could be the next victim. Talk to him but try to maintain distance politely. It applies to you also, if you are ill don’t go to office and infect others but stay back at home, others would be thankful to you for this!!
7. Have drinks moderately
Partying at night and getting hangover the next day results in cut down of the attendance in the office especially among light and moderate drinkers while the heavy drinkers don’t have problem in handling the hangover, says a new Australian study.
If you smoke then quit it this very moment as an individual is not allowed to smoke in the office, so he will take more breaks to smoke which will not help him in any way. On an average smoker spends a third of his/her day outside of the office smoking cigarettes and getting no benefit in return but only ruining health of themselves.
