Researchers from various American and Norway universities has revealed that gulping down a glass of toned or low fat milk or consuming milk products daily can slash down your risk of kidney diseases and heart problems by thirty seven percent as compared to those who drank little or no low fat milk.
The scientists conducted the study on more than 5, 000 adults in the ages of 45 to 84 years by measuring the kidney health, associated with heart disease. The researchers tested albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) of the subject’s and also maintained a record of the eating patterns before study.
If the ACR ratio is too low then it means the kidney function is poor and one is at higher risk for heart disease.
The findings of the study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition revealed that individuals who reported drinking lots of low fat milk or milk products daily had low ACR ratio which means healthier kidney function. Alongside, low fat milk and milk products were the only food group that was evaluated on its own and was significantly related to a lower risk for kidney dysfunction.
Giving example of another research the authors suggested that milk protein, vitamin D, magnesium and calcium may contribute to the healthy heart condition.
