Sleeping on right side may up stillbirth risk

Expectant mothers who sleep on their right side or back during late stages of pregnancy may be putting their unborn to stillbirth risk, a new study published in 'British Medical Journal' warns.

The risk doubles in especially the last three months of pregnancy compared to those who sleep on their left side, the experts cautioned.

Researchers from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, suggest sleeping on right side or on the back obstructs blood flow through a major vein from the legs to heart, which in turn affects blood supply to the womb.
