According to the latest study conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM), the size of the Indian medical tourism industry is likely to more than double in the next 4 years.
The medical tourism segment will thus generate Rs 10,800 crore per annum by 2015 vis-à-vis the Rs 4,500 crore that it generates at present.
In terms of people coming in to the country for treatment, the number would spike from the current level of 8.5 lakh to 32 lakh by 2015, suggests ASSOCHAM, in its study titled ‘Emerging Trends In Domestic Medical Tourism Sector.'
