Successful kidney transplant using 'Immunoadsorption Technique' in Hyderabad

Hyderabad based Kamineini Hospital has reportedly treated its first Patient by successfully transplanting kidney using the ‘Immunoadsorption Technique'. This operation was reportedly performed on a Pune based patient Mr.
Deepak on 19th July.

As per reports, the Hospital transplant team consisted of Dr. Kamal Kiran, Nephrologist and Dr. Srinivas Guttha, Transplant Surgeon.

Indian Medical Tourism industry poised for rapid growth -- ASSOCHAM

According to the latest study conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM), the size of the Indian medical tourism industry is likely to more than double in the next 4 years.

The medical tourism segment will thus generate Rs 10,800 crore per annum by 2015 vis-à-vis the Rs 4,500 crore that it generates at present.

In terms of people coming in to the country for treatment, the number would spike from the current level of 8.5 lakh to 32 lakh by 2015, suggests ASSOCHAM, in its study titled ‘Emerging Trends In Domestic Medical Tourism Sector.'

India is the saddest country in the world--WHO

A new study delving into the depression rates worldwide found India to be the saddest country across the globe.

According to researchers from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the State University of New York, the problem of serious depression has skyrocketed in the nation with nearly nine percent of the citizens reporting an extended period of depression during their lifespan. The study also found 36 percent of the people to be suffering from a Major Depressive Episode (MDE).
