I am a mother of 18 months old baby girl. She has episodes of breath holding spells where she will turn blue and scare the hell out of me. Can anybody suggest what I should do when my child holds her breath?

My daughter who is thirteen months old experiences the scary "Breath Holding Spells". You can imagine the fright and the frustration which we experience when it happens. For last few days she is experiencing this phenomena every day. What are the reason/s and the cure for this. Its quite agonising to see this.

If your child has repeated episodes of breath holding spells it may be best to have the child examined by the pediatrician to rule out any physical cause such as a seizure disorder, anemia or other health condition. At least by doing so, you can put your fears to rest.

Some babies really scare the wits out of their parents by doing this. It seldom means anything except that your baby has that kind of temperament.
