Gluten is the protein that is found in wheat, barley and rye. You're most likely allergic to gluten, not just wheat. They do make gluten free beer, or just stick with wine and mixed drinks.

every time i drink certain types of beer i get so itchy i cant stop scratching just after a few sips i dont understand why this happens can anyone tell me why this happens?my itchyness is mostly on my neck,shoulders and chest its pretty messed up

I also got very itchy after only a few sips of Paulaner. Hives all over my neck, chest, armpits and elbows and later on my legs. Just couldn't stop scratching. I am also wondering why this happens.

well no one seems anywhere on the internet answer this question , so... if I eat wheat I get reactions...If I drink beer ,its 10 times the reaction, now is barley wheat? or is it the gluton in the wheat. Cuz I typed in beer ingredients , doesnt say wheat , just barley ...? My eye swells up near closed ,just my left one which i had surgery on 3 years ago,itchy as hell , and I also get hives between my thighs and hair loss around my hands and ankles. my head is itchy , my back too , side of dick , my balls , wth ... so Im messed tryn to figure exactly wha it is ... is it th egluton , the barley ...? barley must be wheat cuz ingrediants in beer dont say wheat, dam it beer say it as it is, ?

My cousin is allergic to rye and everytime he drinks beer, he gets sore throat, too.
