Hair dye and allergy

I have a friend who didn't

I have a friend who didn't know at first that she has a hair dye allergy. So, when she had her hair dyed, the hairstylist did not do an allergy test in her. Halfway of her hair dye, she felt a tingling sensation on her scalp..and when they checked it out, her scalp has been red all over.

Hair dye and allergy

It is definately true though some people may dye the hair for years before getting one. As I have recently found out, I have dyed my hair 20 something odd years and finally decided to go to black, in which I dearly love it on me. After the third round of dying, I went into an allergic reaction of the worst kind, I acheived full body reaction, face swelled and the rash was very painful. Now I find myself looking for alternatives to the permant dyes and not having much luck I must admit. Just always (Always) do a patch test first, I had gotten laxs in that and therefore had paid for it in full.

Hair dye

To test if a person is allergic to hair dye, she must apply a small amount on her hand and wait for few minutes if a reaction will occur. Otherwise, she will just have more problems if she applied it directly on her hair without knowing if she's allergic or not.

Hair dye and allergy

Yes it's true if the person is allergic. Reaction caused by the use of hair dye in mild cases usually only involves dermatitis to the upper eyelids or the rims of the ears. In more severe cases, there may be marked reddening and swelling of the scalp and the face. The eyelids may completely close and the allergic contact dermatitis reaction may become widespread.
