My grandmother was diagnosed with Steven Johnson Syndrome. She said this is some kind of drug allergy. Is this really an allergy or a skin disease?

My mother had this disease;
My mother had this disease; we thought she would gona die already but her figting spirit is so strong. Now, she had survived this disease. Stevens Johnson Syndrome is really a deadly and serious disease if not cured early. However, even if she survived this disease, her health did not go back to normal, she has many complications now because of this disease.
