The expression of 'withdrawal' displayed by teenagers in a state of alienation from their widgets is way more than mere crossness; it's more of tumult surging in them.

Parents are well-acquainted with their teen boys and girls making a brouhaha over mobiles and laptops. Any attempt to keep their gadgetry out of reach, now-a-days, makes kids hysterical.

"Cold turkey" is a term used to describe the actions of a person who has foregone a habit or an addiction rather abruptly, and not by a gradual reduction or substitute medication.

Addicted to drugs? Blame your genes, say scientists

As bizarre as it may sound, a group of researchers in U.S. have found that genes can affect the severity of drug addiction in men. The genetic makeup of a person and his history of substance abuse can make a big difference in the treatment.

Scientists at the Brookhaven National Laboratory discovered that certain people who are severely addicted to drugs have lower gray matter density than others, in areas of the brain which are associated with self-control, decision-making and learning.

Lower gray matter translates to fewer numbers of neurons in these critical areas.

Nelly Alia-Klein, a medical scientist and study co-author told reporters that drug addicts with low MAOA genotype may require a different treatment than others who bear a high MAOA. MAOA stands for monoamine oxidase A.
