9-year-olds start smoking in UK's poorest town

In an extreme display of a disturbing smoking trend, it has been revealed that smokers in one of the Britain's most deprived towns start lighting up at an average age of just nine.

An NHS study has found that children in Welsh town of Merthyr Tydfil are getting hooked on smoking at the age of nine.

There have also been cases where the kids started their tobacco habit at an age even lesser than that, the study has revealed, with many still in primary school, according to the Daily Mail, citing the report findings.

In a bid to curb the menace caused by HIV/AIDS, experts recommend making same-sex marriages legal, as almost one in every five in the gay community has AIDS.

Targeting such high-risk groups is the main agenda for AIDS societies worldwide as experts have cautioned that the gay community is at a higher risk of becoming HIV positive.

China, otherwise, has only a 0.05 percent population that is infected with AIDS.

Professor Zhang Beichuan from the Qingdao University said, “The lack of legal recognition for same-sex marriage is partially responsible for members of the gay community having multiple sexual partners, which increases the risk of HIV infection."

HIV+ students in Belgaum school boycotted by classmates

According to several media reports, parents in Belgaum have stopped sending their children to the Government Kannada Primary School in Sadashiva Nagar due to the presence of over 20 HIV positive students in the school.

Apparently, over 20 HIV-positive children studying in the government school have been boycotted by their normal peers.

Parents, after finding out about HIV children studying with their children, started demanding that school authorities make alternate arrangements for the education of infected children.

Reportedly, parents are worried that their wards will contract the deadly disease from HIV-positive children studying in the school.

Parents have declared that they will not be sending their children to the school until authorities address their grievances.
