Receding hairlines, the arrival of the bald patches and the thoughts of suffering from permanent baldness, something feared by most men worldwide, may soon be a thing of the past.
US scientists have identified a defect in stem cells involved in hair growth, an achievement that can help develop targets for manipulating hair growth, thereby ending the frustration and embarrassment of baldness.
Lead researcher, George Cotsarelis, Assistant Professor of dermatology from the University of Pennsylvania stated, “A large contingent of the population has male pattern baldness and some will go to any ends to try to reverse it.
“This lowers the bar for developing a treatment. It definitely gives us hope we can reverse the condition.”
