The researchers found people who freeze up and experience anxiety attacks in an elevated location were able to dispel their fear of heights on taking a dose of cortisol before undergoing traditional exposure therapy.

Exposure Therapy is generally used under the guidance of professionals when a person suffering from acrophobia is exposed to fears of height after being undergoing different relaxation and coping techniques.

This eventually helps in desensitizing the fear and getting comfortable to varied heights.
