Resistant hypertension is referred to the condition when the patient’s blood pressure persists above treatment goals regardless of taking three different types of drugs simultaneously to lower it.

In 'white coat' hypertension, a patient's blood pressure shows high at the doctor's office but stays normal in everyday life.

The study revealed that out of 8,295 patients diagnosed with resistant hypertension, 37 percent actually showed 'white coat' hypertension, whereas more women than men had the condition--42 percent versus 34 percent.

Researchers at Texas A&M University have found that smoking exacerbates the pain caused by various types of cancer, from stage I to IV, and the severity interferes with the patients' battle to fight with the deadly disease.

The study, published in the January 2011 issue of the journal 'Pain,' suggests that most of the pain is caused by the pressing of tumor on bones, nerves, and other organs.

The research on Avid Radiopharmaceuticals' radioactive tracer AV-45, a scanner dye, compared the brain scans of people at the end of their lives with autopsy results after they died.

The researchers found a strong correlation between the toxic proteins present in the brains and the places suggested by the radioactive dye.
