It’s true! A diet pill that can help overweight and obese women drop a dress size in a matter of weeks could go on sale in two years.

The new drug, called lorcaserin, is being hailed as the last attempt to reduce weight before patients consider going to dangerous lengths like gastric band surgery.

Makers of the weight loss drug, which suppresses appetite, claim that it can reduce weight by as much as 40 percent over a year.

New drug to erase bad memories in the offing

Forgetting painful memories may now get easier, as a new research by Canadian researchers finds a decrease in the brain’s ability to recall bad memory under the effect of the drug metyrapone.

University of Montreal researchers found that metyrapone reduces the levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is associated with memory recall.

"Metyrapone is a drug that significantly decreases the levels of cortisol, a stress hormone that is involved in memory recall," stated Marie-France Marin, the lead author and a doctoral student at the university.

An intriguing new research, published in the journal 'The Laryngoscope,' has linked Pfizer's Viagra and similar impotence drugs to hundreds of cases of sudden hearing loss in the world, including some in the UK.

The little blue pills taken by men to maintain erection can possibly cause long-term damage to hearing, the doctors warn.

This is not the first time Viagra, scientifically known as Sildenafil, has been linked with hearing impairment. Earlier, high doses of the wonder drug have been shown to damage hearing in mice, but only a few cases were reported in humans.
