Is your teenage kid internet savvy? Look out for the signs of multiple-risk behaviors (MRB), as a new study states that adolescents spending too much time online are highly vulnerable to drinking, taking drugs, and having unprotected sex.
Researchers at the Queen's University in Canada have found that teens glued to their computer screes are 50 percent more likely to engage in risky behaviors than their peers.
“This research is based on social cognitive theory, which suggests that seeing people engaged in a behaviour is a way of learning that behavior,” the Daily Mail quoted lead author Valerie Carson, as saying.
“Since adolescents are exposed to considerable screen time - over 4.5 hours on average each day - they’re constantly seeing images of behaviours they can then potentially adopt.”
