Those who want to live longer may have to cut down on the amount of food they consume on a daily basis, according to a new finding by U.S. researchers.
The team at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, has found that people with lesser calorie intake have a lower core body temperature compared with the ones who have more.
The ideal core body temperature – at which the body functions with maximum efficiency -- is believed to be 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.7 degrees Celsius.
Earlier findings on animals such as mice and rats, have shown a lower core body temperature by reducing calorie intake leads to longer life than those on a standard diet.
