Buying flowers might be the simplest way of letting your girl know how much you care for her, but it will only raise a question on your fidelity, a new survey finds.

The survey conducted by Greggs, the largest retail bakery chain in the UK on 1,500 men and 1,500 women, found that women perceive men bringing flowers for them as fishy.

Researchers found that 75 percent of women tend to get suspicious when their man turns up with a bouquet of flowers out of the blue.

In fact, the level of suspicion is linked to the cost of the gift, the researchers say. For instance, a box of chocolates usually suggests he had lied about something and a candle-lit dinner means he has some bad news in waiting.
