Coriander can fight against harmful bacteria -- research

Researchers have discovered that coriander has natural antibiotic ingredients and is an extremely effective in eliminating or impeding the growth of 12 strains of bacteria.

400 hospitalised after eating adulterated flour

Nearly 400 people fell ill and were taken to hospitals in Delhi and in neighboring parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, after they consumed contaminated buckwheat flour or kuttu ka atta.

The affected people ate food items prepared using buckwheat flour as a part of the fasts being observed on the festive occasion of Navratri. The flour is used to prepare puris and rotis.

An East Delhi mill owner has been detained for supplying the adulterated stuff.

Food poisoning cases
Victims complained of vomiting, diarrhea, stomachache and dizziness. Nearly 200 cases of food poisoning have been reported in East Delhi but none of the victims are critical.

Food poisoning sickens 150 students in Tapi school

In an appalling incident nearly 20 students of Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya at Borkhadi village in Tapi region affected by food poisoning were rushed to a local hospital on Friday morning.

In addition, another 130 pupils are under observation and their condition is being closely monitored.

Chief District Health Officer, Tapi, Dr S K Isnova said, "Some 153 students of the Navoday Vidhayala have been affected due to food poisoning after they consumed food yesterday evening.

"Twelve children have been referred to Vyara civil hospital for treatment while others are being treated by a team of doctors at the school itself.”
