Nearly half of US kids getting booze from home--study

A shocking new report from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reveals that over 700,000 school going kids are indulging in drinking beer, liquor, and other alcoholic drinks, with most of them getting it from home.

As per the researchers of a three-year federal study, nearly half of children aged between 12 to 14 years in the United States are getting alcohol directly from their parents, guardian, or an adult relative.

In the past month alone, an estimated 5.9 percent of the young children drank alcohol out of which over 200,000 kids reported taking alcohol from a family member, the study found.
