A latest U.S. study delving into the impact of changing economic and social environment of western nations on men's health warns that more men are likely to suffer from depressive disorders in future, as women are fast becoming the breadwinners.

Researchers claim that changing economies of countries like the UK and U.S. have led to 'mancession,' a situation where the unemployment rate is substantially higher among men than women, with majority of men losing their jobs and lesser availability of traditional employment opportunities.

The term 'mancession' was coined during the financial crisis of 2008-2009, during which men bore the brunt of the job losses in the United States, at times at rates close to 50 percent higher than women.

To determine if the link between asthma and prostate cancer exists, the researchers assessed 1,179 men diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The researchers back-traced their medical reports to assess how many had a history of asthma.

Researchers found that men suffering from asthma faced a 26 percent higher risk of developing prostate cancer.
