Drugs used to combat symptoms of asthma may heighten a man’s risk of prostate cancer, findings of a new study suggest.
Men who take steroid tablets or inhalers for treating severe asthma face a 70 percent higher risk of developing prostate cancer, researchers warn.
Details of the study
To determine if the link between asthma and prostate cancer exists, the researchers assessed 1,179 men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The researchers back-traced their medical reports to assess how many had a history of asthma.
Researchers found that men suffering from asthma faced a 26 percent higher risk of developing prostate cancer.
