A team of scientists at a British university claim to have developed a bandage that gives early identification of wound infection when placed in ultra-violet light. The dressing glows under ultraviolet light if an infection has been detected, the scientists say.

Scientists at Sheffield University say the bandage contains a gel with molecules that activate a dye with fluorescence characteristics if a wound or injury gets infected, the BBC reported Friday.
