3 HIV+ sisters commit suicide in Gujarat

Stigma and discrimination from close relatives and society prompted three young HIV positive sisters to end their life by drinking poison on May 3.

According to official sources, 16 year-old Krishna Gohil along with her sisters Daksha (10) and Rekha(12) committed suicide by consuming a pesticide at around 11 pm on Friday night at their home in Khadaliya village of Vartej taluka in Bhavnagar district.

While two of the sisters died on the spot, the eldest breathed her last in a hospital on Saturday.

In yet another instance of bullying and its associated trauma, a 14-year-old schoolboy slashed his face with a blade in Delhi.

The victim, Lakshya Sharma, is a student of class VIII at South Delhi Public School in Defence Colony. His extreme step resulted out of a series of bullying episodes he encountered at school.
