Pre-pregnancy obesity ups teen asthma risk -- study

Kids born to obese moms are more prone to asthma and wheezing suggests a startling new study.

According to researchers, babies of women who are obese or overweight before pregnancy are more likely to develop breathing problems as teenagers compared to those whose moms have a healthy pre-pregnancy weight.

Lead author of the study, Professor Marjo-Riitta Jarvelin, from Imperial College London stated, "The heavier the women, the more the risk of wheezing and asthma-like symptoms.
